Đã có lần người ta định thử nghiệm đốn sạch hàng cây cũ của một tuyến đường, để trồng lại cây xanh theo quy hoạch thì bị dư luận nhao nhao phản đối. Thậm chí, có người còn nói trong đó có những cụ cây nghe rất là ghê răng. Đành chịu!
Có lần tôi tới thành phố của một nước, đi qua nhiều tuyến phố, thấy họ trồng chỉ một loại cây nào đó mà tôi không biết là cây gì. Nhưng tôi nhớ đó là loài cây nhỏ, thân mảnh, có tán lá xanh rộng, đẹp và đặc biệt là tán lá cách mặt đường chừng 3 mét. Tôi nhớ thế vì ngay cả những ông cao kều nhất vẫn có thể đi bộ thoải mái mà không bị cành lá quét ngang mặt được.
Lần ấy tôi cứ ước ao, giá Hà Nội có những hàng cây như thế thì đẹp và an toàn biết bao. Cây ấy, dù có đổ do mưa bão thì cũng không thể chết người được. Nhưng nhớ lại cái lần dư luận phản đối trồng cây mới mà tôi thấy ái ngại cho Hà Nội.
Đơn giản là quy hoạch cây xanh, trồng lại, vừa mỹ quan, vừa an toàn cũng không được dư luận đồng tình ủng hộ. Tôi cũng không biết vì sao nữa.
Có người băn khoăn nói vì Hà Nội có nhiều cây thiêng, không đốn tất cả đi được. Nhưng cây thiêng thì đâu có nhiều. Chúng ta hoàn toàn có thể giữ lại những cây này. Tăng cường bảo vệ khi có dự báo bão về. Cảnh báo người dân đừng đi qua đó khi có bão lớn. Đâu có khó gì.
Hay là Hà Nội mình bảo thủ quá rồi, ít nhất cũng là trong vấn đề cây xanh đô thị!
